STATE OF EMERGENCY
TOWN OF ST. FRANCISVILLE
WHEREAS, the Town of St. Francisville presently is faced with an extended emergency situation due to the closing of the Burnett Road Bridge in St. Francisville and due to the heavy winter rains experienced since January 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, there is a very definite threat to life, safety, and property of the citizens of the Town of St. Francisville; and
WHEREAS, the Burnett Road Bridge closure has impeded access to the new West Feliciana Parish Hospital, scheduled to open in the summer of 2017; and
WHEREAS, the recent heavy winter rains have damaged the shoulders of the newly resurfaced Commerce Street and have damaged the embankments on Gaspers Creek at the site of the Burnett Road Bridge.
NOW THEREFORE, I William D’Aquilla, Mayor of the Town of St. Francisville, by the authority vested in me by the Louisiana Emergency Assistance and Disaster Act of 1993 (L.R.S. 29:727 as amended), and other applicable laws, do hereby proclaim the following:
A STATE OF EMERGENCY does exist within the Town of St. Francisville. All emergency plans must be activated and the necessary emergency actions be taken as pertaining to the following: all damaged road shoulders; damage to the Gaspers Creek/Burnett Road Bridge embankments; and the closure of the Burnett Road Bridge and the resultant impediment to access to local medical facilities.
